The OACP Certificate costs $250 CAD before tax. This fee covers the complete certification process including Part A documentation review, Part B cognitive assessment (SSPO), and Part C personality assessment (ESQ2). Payment is made through the official OACP Certificate website under the Start Your Career tab.

Cost Structure and Validity Period

Understanding the cost structure helps candidates plan their police career investment. The $250 fee (approximately $282.50 with 13% HST) provides a certificate valid for one year from the date of issuance. If the certificate expires before a candidate is hired, the entire process must be repeated with corresponding fees.

Retesting requires paying the full fee again. Candidates cannot retake the examination until 10 months after receiving their certificate. This policy encourages thorough preparation before attempting the exam, as failed or suboptimal attempts cannot be quickly corrected.

Reimbursement Policies and Additional Expenses

Some police services now reimburse the OACP Certificate cost. For example, Thunder Bay Police Service reimburses the $250 plus tax upon successful completion of the recruitment process including graduation from Ontario Police College. Candidates should check with their target police services about potential reimbursement policies.

Beyond the certificate fee, candidates should budget for preparation materials such as study guides and practice tests, medical examinations required for Part A documentation (audiologist and optometrist visits), and potential travel costs for proctored testing if applicable.
